Parkirop 0.25mg Tablet should be taken with food. However, take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor and if you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. You should never skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. It is important that this medication is not stopped suddenly without talking to your doctor.


Some common side effects of this medicine include headache, fainting, vomiting, weakness, nausea, edema (swelling), abnormality of voluntary movements, and dyspepsia (indigestion). It also causes dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Inform your doctor if you develop any unusual changes in mood, an abnormally high sex drive, an urge to gamble, or uncontrolled spending as these may prove very harmful.

Parkirop 0.25mg Tablet works by increasing the action of dopamine, a chemical messenger that is needed to control movement in the brain.

Pharmacokinets

Ropinirole shows low plasma protein binding. The drug is inactivated by metabolism in the liver, and none of the major circulating metabolites have pharmacological activity. The principal metabolic enzyme is the cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoenzyme CYP1A2.

Parkirop 0.25mg Tablet suppresses serum prolactin and may interfere with breastfeeding.

Indications

Ropinirole is used alone or with other medications to treat the symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD; a disorder of the nervous system that causes difficulties with movement, muscle control, and balance), including shaking of parts of the body, stiffness, slowed movements, and problems with balance.

Interactions

Drug-Drug Interactions: ROPINIROLE interacted with antipsychotic medications (e.g. amisulpride), analgesic medications (e.g. propoxyphene) and central nervous system depressants (e.g. sodium oxybate).

Drug-Food Interactions: Limit or cut down the consumption of alcohol while taking ROPINIROLE as it may worsen the side effects.

Drug-Disease Interactions: ROPINIROLE interacted with medical conditions, including hypotension, psychosis, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, cardiovascular disease, hepatic dysfunction, and renal dysfunction.

You have been prescribed Parkirop 0.25mg Tablet to treat your symptoms of Parkinson's disease and/or restless leg syndrome.

It can be taken with or without food. Taking it with food may reduce nausea.

For restless leg syndrome, take this medicine 2 to 3 hours before bedtime.

Avoid activities that require you to be alert, such as driving a car until you know how this medication affects you.

When you first start taking Parkirop 0.25mg Tablet, it may cause sudden drop in your blood pressure when you change positions. To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.

Inform your doctor if you develop compulsive behaviors that are hard to control, such as binge eating, gambling, spending money, and sexual urges.

Talk to your doctor in case you develop hallucinations or other changes in your behavior.

Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor.

You may develop several warning symptoms that would suggest that the treatment needs to be discontinued. You may develop compulsive behavior such as gambling, increase in sex drive, compulsive shopping and eating. You may notice that your symptoms are getting worse (start earlier than usual or are more intense, affect other parts of the body, such as the arms, and symptoms return early in morning). If you notice these symptoms, consult your doctor immediately.

No, you should not stop taking Parkirop 0.25mg Tablet on your own as you may experience anxiety, depression, lack of interest, tiredness, sweating and severe pain in the leg. The dose should be reduced slowly. In some patients, it may take longer to see improvement but not beyond 12 weeks. Talk to your doctor if you want to stop it.

Yes, you can take gabapentin and Parkirop 0.25mg Tablet together. However, be careful as taking these two medicines together may cause excessive drowsiness, dizziness and decrease your mental alertness. So, you may have to avoid driving, operating machinery or working at heights while taking the two medicines together.
