Plasmanate 5% Infusion is used to treat blood volume loss. It works by replacing the body fluids lost due to excessive trauma, bleeding, surgery, or kidney dialysis. Thus, it is helpful in treating low blood albumin levels.


Plasmanate 5% Infusion must be administered under the supervision of a healthcare professional. You should not take it if you have any known allergies to this injection. Before taking it, inform the doctor you are suffering from any severe heart disease.


Your doctor may check your blood pressure and ask you to get regular blood tests done while you are using this injection. The most common side effects include flushing, nausea, vomiting, chills, and fever.


Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Let your doctor also know if you have any kidney diseases as a dose adjustment may be required. This injection is safe to use in patients suffering from liver diseases.

Albumin has two essential physiologic functions[2]: Contribute to colloid osmotic pressure. Aid in the transportation, distribution, and metabolism of endogenous and exogenous molecules (fatty acids, thyroid hormones, metals, oxide nitric, peptides, and drugs)

The combination of drug and serum albumin plays an essential role in pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of drugs [8]. It is known that the free (unbound) concentration, distribution, and metabolism of various drugs are strongly affected by the combination of drug and albumin in the blood stream

Contra Indications

Contraindications include clinical situations that present with volume overloads, such as severe anemia, congestive heart failure, or renal insufficiency, at high risk of hemodynamic instability when treated with albumin solutions

Indications

Fluid resuscitation (should not be used as first line treatment – use crystalloids first)

Significant hypoalbuminemia.

Nephrotic syndrome.

Therapeutic plasma exchange.

Cardiothoracic surgery as a pump prime for cardiopulmonary bypass.


Interactions

In addition to oleic acid, they find S-nitrosylated human serum albumin also strongly interacts with Bilirubin and weakly interacts with L-tryptophan, progesterone, ascorbate, Zinc, and iron
