Promolup N 5mg Tablet is a synthetic progestin. It works by mimicking the effects of natural progesterone (female hormone). It helps in regulating the growth and shedding of the womb lining, thereby treating menstrual irregularities.
Norethisterone exerts its effects by binding to steroid receptors in the reproductive tract, breast, liver, and in the brain. The affinity of norethisterone for endometrial progesterone receptors is similar to that of the natural ligand and so it can produce secretory changes in the estrogen-primed endometrium.

NORETHISTERONE may interact with anticonvulsants (carbamazepine, phenytoin), antiviral drugs (nelfinavir, ritonavir), a medicine used to treat Cushing’s syndrome (aminoglutethimide), antibiotics (co-trimoxazole, rifampicin, tetracycline), immunosuppressant (ciclosporin).

If you miss a dose of Promolup N 5mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
