Rabivax-S Injection is given by doctor or nurse administers. It is given as soon as possible after thorough washing (for about 15 minutes, using soap and sufficient amounts of water) of all bite wounds. Treatment should begin as soon as possible following exposure. With the exception of people who have already undergone complete immunisation regimens, post-exposure anti-rabies vaccination should always comprise both Immunoglobulin and vaccine. It is critical to finish the immunisation course in order to avoid contracting this deadly disease.
Rabivax-S is a vaccination that has been inactivated. It aids in the development of immunity by generating antibodies, which are proteins that protect against viral infection.
Rabies vaccine must NOT be given in the gluteals due to the possibility of poor absorption from that site and lower neutralizing antibody titers. Two inactivated, cell culture rabies vaccines are currently available in the United States: human diploid cell vaccine (HDCV) or purified chick embryo cell vaccine (PCEC).
The majority of side effects are minor and will go away as your body adjusts to the medicine. If they don't go away or you're concerned about them, see your doctor.
Adverse Effects of Rabivax-S Injection
Pain,
Joint pain,
Injection site redness,
Injection site swelling,
Swelling of lymph nodes.
Corticosteroids, other immunosuppressive agents, anti-malarials, and immunosuppressive illnesses can interfere with the development of active immunity after vaccination. For persons with immunosuppression, preexposure prophylaxis should be administered with the awareness that the immune response might be inadequate.
Rabies vaccine is given to persons who have been exposed (eg, by a bite, scratch, or lick) to an animal that is known, or thought, to have rabies. This is called post-exposure prophylaxis. Rabies vaccine may also be given ahead of time to persons who have a high risk of getting infected with rabies virus.
