You can take Ramistar-AM 5 Tablet at any time of day, with or without food, but it is best to take it at the same time each day. Keep taking it for as long as advised by your doctor. Even if you feel well, do not stop this medicine on your own because high blood pressure often has no symptoms. If you stop taking it, your condition may get worse. Keeping active with regular exercise, reducing your weight and eating a healthy diet will also help control your blood pressure. Follow your doctor’s advice while taking this medicine.
Ramistar-AM 5 Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Amlodipine and ramipril which lower blood pressure effectively. It works by relaxing blood vessels so that blood flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently.
Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium antagonist drug with distinctive pharmacokinetic characteristics which appear to be attributable to a high degree of ionisation. Following oral administration, bioavailability is 60 to 65% and plasma concentrations rise gradually to peak 6 to 8h after administration.Ramipril is a prodrug that undergoes de-esterification in the liver to form ramiprilat, its active metabolite. Ramipril rapidly distributes to all tissues, with the liver, kidneys and lungs showing markedly higher concentrations of the drug than the blood.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Hypersensitivity to Ramistar-AM 5 Tablet is a contraindication. In addition, Ramistar-AM 5 Tablet should not be used if you have the following conditions:
Abnormally low or unstable blood pressure
Aliskiren
Bilateral renal artery stenosis
Breastfeeding
Concurrent of K sparing diuretics
Dialysis
Hypersensitivity
Outflow tract obstruction
Pregnant
Ramistar-AM 5 Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Ramistar-AM 5 Tablet.
Ramistar-AM 5 Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Ramistar-AM 5 Tablet may interact with the following drugs and products:
Atazanavir
CYP3A4 inhibitors
Ciprofloxacin
Cyclosporine
Enoxacin
Fluvoxamine
Itraconazole
Ketoconazole
Rifampin
Ritonavir
Do not chew, crush or break it. Ramistar-AM 5 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Ramistar-AM 5 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Lowering blood pressure reduces chance of future heart attack & strokes.
It may cause dizziness. Get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.
Do not take Ramistar-AM 5 Tablet if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy.
