Rasipar 0.5mg Tablet can be taken alone or in combination with other medicines. It may be taken with or without food. However, it is advised to take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor.
If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. You should never skip any doses and try to finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. This medication mustn't be stopped suddenly without talking to your doctor as it can result in confusion, stiff muscles, and a high fever.
Some common side effects of this medicine include joint pain, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), dyspepsia (indigestion), influenza or cold-like symptoms, depression, cough, and peripheral edema (swelling in the extremities, especially lower limbs).
It even causes dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. You should undergo periodic examinations to detect skin cancer while taking this medicine as it increases the risk of developing cancer. Inform your doctor if you develop any unusual changes in mood, hallucinations, an abnormally high sex drive, an urge to gamble, or uncontrolled spending as these may prove very harmful.
Rasipar 0.5mg Tablet works by increasing the amount of dopamine, a chemical messenger that is needed to control movement in the brain.
Pharmacokinetics. Rasagiline has 36% bioavailability, and protein binding of 88%–94%. It metabolize in the liver, and the elimination half-life is 3 h. Excretion is via the urine and feces.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Rasagiline tablets are contraindicated for use with St. John's wort and with cyclobenzaprine. Rasagiline tablets are contraindicated for use with dextromethorphan because of risk of episode of psychosis or bizarre behavior.
Rasipar 0.5mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Rasipar 0.5mg Tablet.
Rasipar 0.5mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Rasagiline is used alone or with other medications (such as levodopa/carbidopa) to treat symptoms of Parkinson's disease. It can help improve symptoms such as shakiness, stiffness, and difficulty moving. It can also help reduce the amount of "off" time (periods of slow movement or stiffness).
Some products that may interact with this drug include: diet pills/appetite suppressants (such as diethylpropion), drugs for attention deficit disorder (such as atomoxetine, methylphenidate), apraclonidine, bupropion, buspirone, carbamazepine, cyclobenzaprine, deutetrabenazine, dextromethorphan, methyldopa, .
Do not chew, crush or break it. Rasipar 0.5mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Rasipar 0.5mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Do not stop taking Rasipar 0.5mg Tablet suddenly. Sudden stopping may cause confusion, stiff muscles and a high fever.
As a precaution, foods high in tyramine (e.g. aged cheeses, air-dried meat, soy sauce, tap/draft beers and red wine) should be avoided when taking Rasipar 0.5mg Tablet, as it may cause an unsafe rise in your blood pressure.

Q. Does smoking have any effect on Rasipar 0.5mg Tablet?
Yes, you should not smoke while on this medicine since smoking interferes with its working. Smoking can decrease the rate at which your symptoms improve.
Q. What food is to be avoided while taking Rasipar 0.5mg Tablet?
It is best if you avoid aged cheese, herring (fish), and red wine. But, since taking these foods with Rasipar 0.5mg Tablet does not affect blood pressure or heart rate, these can be taken in very small amounts.

Patients of Parkinson’s disease are at a higher risk of skin cancer. The same risk is also seen in patients taking Rasipar 0.5mg Tablet. Therefore, you should undergo periodic examinations to detect skin cancer if you are taking Rasipar 0.5mg Tablet.
Q. Is it safe to drive if I am taking Rasipar 0.5mg Tablet?
If you experience excessive daytime sleepiness or fall asleep suddenly, then avoid driving, operate machinery or work at heights during Rasipar 0.5mg Tablet treatment.
