Reef 50mg Capsule is to be taken with food. Take it regularly and do not stop taking the medicine even if you get better until that doctor tells you it is alright to stop. Along with taking the medicine, exercise regularly to strengthen muscles around the affected joint and manage your weight.

The use of this medicine may cause some common side effects like diarrhea or discoloration of urine. If these side effects do no go away with time or bother you, talk to your doctor. Your doctor may help with ways to reduce or prevent these symptoms.

To make sure the medicine is safe for you, before taking this medicine, let your doctor know all the other medicines you are taking. Also tell your doctor if you have any problems with your heart, kidneys, or liver. Regular monitoring of blood sugar levels, especially in diabetic patients is important while taking this medicine, as it may increase your blood sugar level. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor first before taking this medicine.

Diacerein is a medicine used to treat joint diseases such as osteoarthritis (swelling and pain in the joints). Following an EU-wide review of diacerein, its use has been restricted in order to minimise the risks of severe diarrhoea and liver problems.

Pharmacokinets

Diacerein is entirely converted into rhein before reaching the systemic circulation. Rhein itself is either eliminated by the renal route (20%) or conjugated in the liver to rhein glucuronide (60%) and rhein sulfate (20%); these metabolites are mainly eliminated by the kidney.

Interactions

Diacerein may increase the hepatotoxic activities of Acetaminophen. The metabolism of Acetohexamide can be decreased when combined with Diacerein. The metabolism of Acetylsalicylic acid can be decreased when combined with Diacerein. The metabolism of Acyclovir can be decreased when combined with Diacerein.

Effects Of Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose of Reef 50mg Capsule, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.
