Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

RABEPRAZOLE+ITOPRIDE is a combination of two drugs: Rabeprazole and Itopride. Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), that works by blocking the action of an enzyme called gastric proton pump, which is responsible for the production of acid.

Pharmacokinets

Rabeprazole is an antiulcer drug in the class of proton pump inhibitors. It is a prodrug - in the acid environment of the parietal cells it turns into active sulphenamide form. Rabeprazole inhibits the H+, K+ATPase of the coating gastric cells and dose-dependent oppresses basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion.

Pharmacokinetics. After oral administration itopride undergoes rapid and extensive absorption with levels of itopride peaking in the blood plasma after only 35 minutes. Itopride is primarily eliminated via the kidneys having an elimination half-life of approximately 6 hours.
