The bacteriostatic action of tetracyclines, like doxycycline hyclate, is intended to stop the growth of bacteria by allosterically binding to the 30S prokaryotic ribosomal unit during protein synthesis.
Doxycycline is metabolized in the liver and gastrointestinal tract through an unknown mechanism and is eliminated via both biliary secretion and glomerular filtration in the kidney (8). Approximately 40% to 45% of doxycycline is recovered in urine as an unchanged drug within 72 h (8, 14, 15).
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them
