Some side effects of this medicine include headache, muscle pain, weakness, fatigue, and fever. Inform your doctor if these side effects persist for a longer duration. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding.
Ribavin 200 Capsule 4's contains Ribavirin, an antiviral drug that works by inhibiting the action of viral RNA (genetic material) that is essential for the virus to multiply. Thereby, it stops the virus from making new viruses and helps in reducing the amount of hepatitis C virus in the body.
Ribavirin is promptly absorbed into circulation, with the help of gastrointestinal, sodium-dependent nucleoside transporters in the proximal small bowel. Peak concentrations are achieved approximately 2.5 hours after dosing, with a concentration range between 1.7 and 5.3 µM following oral administration of 1000 mg/day.

VIRAZOLE (ribavirin) is indicated for the treatment of hospitalized infants and young children with severe lower respiratory tract infections due to respiratory syncytial virus. Treatment early in the course of severe lower respiratory tract infection may be necessary to achieve efficacy.
RIBAVIRIN may interact with medicines used to treat HIV/AIDS (stavudine, zidovudine, didanosine), immunosuppressant (azathioprine).
