Romilast 10mg Tablet can be taken with or without food. Take it at the same time to get the most benefit. It is advised to have it 2 hours before exercise if you have exercise-induced asthma. It should be taken as your doctor's advice. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. Swallow the tablets whole with a drink of water. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you. It does not cure sudden breathing problems, so always carry a medicated inhaler with you. 


It is generally safe medicine with few common side effects include nausea, vomiting, headache, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. Generally, you should avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.

Romilast 10mg Tablet works by blocking the action of leukotriene, a chemical messenger. This reduces inflammation in the airways to prevent asthma and relieve symptoms of allergies.


Pharmacokinets

Montelukast is rapidly absorbed following oral administration. After administration of the 10-mg film- coated tablet to fasted adults, the mean peak montelukast plasma concentration (Cmax) is achieved in 3 to 4 hours (Tmax). The mean oral bioavailability is 64%.

Contra Indications

Montelukast is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to the drug or its components. In addition, for patients with phenylketonuria (PKU), caution should be exercised with phenylalanine-containing formulations.

Romilast 10mg Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Indications

Montelukast is used to prevent wheezing, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, and coughing caused by asthma in adults and children 12 months of age and older. Montelukast is also used to prevent bronchospasm (breathing difficulties) during exercise in adults and children 6 years of age and older.

Interactions

MONTELUKAST may have an interaction with pain killers (ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac), blood thinners (aspirin), antiallergic medications (cetirizine), antiasthma drugs (salmeterol, albuterol, formoterol), anti-hypertensive medication (metoprolol), and anti-epilepsy medications (phenobarbital, phenytoin).

Effects Of Missed Dosage
