Ropark XL 4 Tablet should be taken with food. However, take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor and if you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. You should never skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. It is important that this medication is not stopped suddenly without talking to your doctor.
Ropark XL 4 Tablet works by increasing the action of dopamine, a chemical messenger that is needed to control movement in the brain.
Ropinirole is a selective non-ergoline dopamine D2 receptor agonist indicated for use in treating Parkinson's disease. When taken as oral tablets, ropinirole is rapidly and almost completely absorbed, and it is extensively distributed from the vascular compartment. The bioavailability is approximately 50%.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Ropark XL 4 Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

Ropark XL 4 Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Ropark XL 4 Tablet suppresses serum prolactin and may interfere with breastfeeding.
Ropinirole is used alone or with other medications to treat the symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD; a disorder of the nervous system that causes difficulties with movement, muscle control, and balance), including shaking of parts of the body, stiffness, slowed movements, and problems with balance.
Some products that may interact with this drug are: antipsychotics (such as chlorpromazine, haloperidol, thiothixene), metoclopramide. Other medications can affect the removal of ropinirole from your body, which may affect how ropinirole works.

You have been prescribed Ropark XL 4 Tablet to treat your symptoms of Parkinson's disease and/or restless leg syndrome.
It can be taken with or without food. Taking it with food may reduce nausea.
For restless leg syndrome, take this medicine 2 to 3 hours before bedtime.
Avoid activities that require you to be alert, such as driving a car until you know how this medication affects you.
When you first start taking Ropark XL 4 Tablet, it may cause sudden drop in your blood pressure when you change positions. To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
Inform your doctor if you develop compulsive behaviors that are hard to control, such as binge eating, gambling, spending money, and sexual urges.
Talk to your doctor in case you develop hallucinations or other changes in your behavior.
Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor.

Q. What are the warning symptoms that should prompt me to discontinue therapy?
You may develop several warning symptoms that would suggest that the treatment needs to be discontinued. You may develop compulsive behavior such as gambling, increase in sex drive, compulsive shopping and eating. You may notice that your symptoms are getting worse (start earlier than usual or are more intense, affect other parts of the body, such as the arms, and symptoms return early in morning). If you notice these symptoms, consult your doctor immediately.
Q. How long does Ropark XL 4 Tablet take to work?
You may be able to see improvement within a week. However, it may take longer and differs from individual to individual.
Q. Can I stop taking Ropark XL 4 Tablet if I do not see any improvement in my symptoms?
No, you should not stop taking Ropark XL 4 Tablet on your own as you may experience anxiety, depression, lack of interest, tiredness, sweating and severe pain in the leg. The dose should be reduced slowly. In some patients, it may take longer to see improvement but not beyond 12 weeks. Talk to your doctor if you want to stop it.
Q. Can I take gabapentin and Ropark XL 4 Tablet together?
Yes, you can take gabapentin and Ropark XL 4 Tablet together. However, be careful as taking these two medicines together may cause excessive drowsiness, dizziness and decrease your mental alertness. So, you may have to avoid driving, operating machinery or working at heights while taking the two medicines together.
