Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Rosabril 5mg Gel is a sympathomimetic. It works by narrowing the enlarged blood vessels of the face. This reduces excess blood flow and redness on the face caused by rosacea.

Pharmacokinets

Brimonidine is applied to and absorbed by the cornea of the eye. Plasma concentrations of brimonidine peak within 1–4 h and decline with a half-life of approximately 3 h. It is metabolized primarily by the liver. Brimonidine and its metabolites are eliminated primarily by urinary excretion.

Side Effects

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Common side effects of Rosabril

Erythema (skin redness)

Dermatitis

Skin burn

Flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck and trunk)

Contra Indications

Brimonidine is contraindicated in patients receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitor therapy, because antidepressants decrease the metabolism of circulating monoamines, leading to an increase in levels of endogenous monoamines that might inhibit the IOP-lowering effect of brimonidine.
