Rosuvas D Tablet is used to treat high cholesterol. It is a combination of two medicines that reduces "bad" cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides (fats) levels in the body. It may also reduce risk of future heart attack and stroke. Lifestyle changes like low-fat diet, exercise, and not smoking may help this medicine to work better. It may cause diarrhea as a side effect, so it is better to have this medicine with food. It may change liver function and blood sugar levels so monitor them properly. This medicine may also cause reduction in calcium levels, so have regular blood tests to monitor the level of calcium. Dizziness, stomach pain, muscle pain, and constipation are some other side effects associated with this medicine.

Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Rosuvastatin inhibits a substance called HMG-CoA reductase, which is responsible for the formation of low-density lipoproteins (bad cholesterol). Vitamin D3/cholecalciferol reduces the absorption of cholesterol in the body which lowers low-density lipoprotein (bad cholesterol).

Pharmacokinets

Pharmacokinetics. The oral bioavailability of rosuvastatin is 20%, which is comparable to atorvastatin, pravastatin and fluvastatin, and qualitatively higher than simvastatin and lovastatin. After a single oral dose the peak plasma concentration is reached at 5 hours.

The pharmacokinetics of oral vitamin D3 are conventionally described with respect to its effect on the serum concentration of the predominant circulating metabolite, 25-hydroxyvitamin D, which is a well-established biomarker of systemic vitamin D status.
