Rovamycin Forte Tablet is an antibiotic. It works by preventing synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Thus, it stops the bacteria from growing, and prevents the infection from spreading.

Pharmacokinets

Pharmacokinetic pilot studies showed that spiramycin distribution follows a two-compartment model in rhesus monkeys. Following a single intravenous dose of 50 or 250 mg, dose-dependent kinetics were observed. At a dose of 50 mg, 10% of the dose was excreted unchanged in the urine.

Contra Indications

Spiramycin is contraindicated in cases of known hypersensitivity to Spiramycin or to other antibiotics of the macrolide group, or to any of the excipients. Note when using Spiramycin: Because Spiramycin can be toxic to the liver, so it should be used with caution in people with liver dysfunction.
