Rowasa 1gm Pellets may also be used to treat another type of bowel disease known as Crohn’s ileocolitis. It should be taken with food. The dose will depend on what you are being treated for but take it exactly as your doctor prescribes. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen.
The most common side effects of this medicine include nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, headache, itching, flatulence, and vomiting. If these symptoms bother you, do not go away, or get worse, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. Some people may get a severe allergic reaction that needs urgent medical attention. Contact your doctor immediately if you notice symptoms like swelling of the face, tongue, throat, or lips, unusual bleeding, bruising, rash, fever, sore throat, or excessive tiredness.
Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems or a blockage in your stomach. Your age may also be a factor in deciding whether this medicine is suitable. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor before taking this medicine. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.
Rowasa 1gm Pellets is an aminosalicylate. It works by suppressing the production of chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause inflammation (swelling) in the intestines. This reduces ulceration, bleeding and stomach pain, and prevents future flare-ups of the disease.
Rectal forms of mesalazine deliver active drug directly to the rectum and left colon. Plasma concentrations of mesalazine and its metabolite acetyl-5-aminosalicylic acid after oral or local administration are the result of systemic absorption and hepatic metabolism by N-acetyltransferase.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to salicylates or to any of the components, and in severe renal impairment. Serious blood dyscrasias have been reported very rarely with mesalazine. Contraindicated in severe hepatic impairment.
Rowasa 1gm Pellets may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

Rowasa 1gm Pellets is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
If you are taking Rowasa 1gm Pellets, monitor the baby for diarrhea.
Mesalazine is used to treat ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease and other types of inflammatory bowel disease. It belongs to a group of medicines called aminosalicylates. These help to reduce redness and swelling (inflammation) and can help with healing. Some people take mesalazine together with steroids.
The risk or severity of bleeding, nephrotoxicity, and gastrointestinal bleeding can be increased when Aminosalicylic acid is combined with Mesalazine. The risk or severity of hyperkalemia can be increased when Mesalazine is combined with Amiodarone.

If you miss a dose of Rowasa 1gm Pellets, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.\n

Your doctor may monitor your kidney and liver functions before you start treatment with this medicine and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you have severely decreased kidney or liver function.
Do not take Rowasa 1gm Pellets if you are allergic to aspirin or if you have blood disorders.
Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor.

You should avoid alcohol if you have ulcerative colitis, as alcohol will irritate your stomach and intestine which will worsen your condition. Although alcohol does not interfere with the working of Rowasa 1gm Pellets, you should consult your doctor before taking alcohol.
