In higher doses, Sevista Tablet is also used to control abnormal vaginal bleeding in women who have not attained menopause (end of the monthly menstrual period). This medicine is only taken once a week, either with or without food. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor is the right person to decide the exact dose, hence follow your doctor's advice.

It is a non-hormonal medicine with very minimal side effects but in some cases, it may cause irregularity in your menstrual cycle. If this bothers you or appears serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing this. Before taking this medicine let your doctor know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works.

Mechanism Of Action

Its antiestrogenic activity on the endometrium inhibits the fertilized ovum from implantation. It hastens the transfer of ovum from the fallopian tubes to the endometrial cavity, before it is ready for implantation.

Pharmacokinets

Pharmacokinetics. Ormeloxifene acts on oestrogen receptors. It has a weak estrogenic and potent antiestrogenic actions. It is expected to exert a contraceptive effect and normalise the bleeding from uterine cavity by regularising the expression of oestrogen receptors on the endometrium.

Contra Indications

ORMELOXIFENE contains ' Ormeloxifene', a non-steroidal and non-hormonal oral contraceptive. It is generally taken once a week. It is also used to treat uterine bleeding in women who have not attained menopause yet. It works by preventing the implantation of an egg on the wall of the uterus.


Interactions

Calcitriol The metabolism of Ormeloxifene can be increased when combined with Calcitriol.

Cangrelor The risk or severity of adverse effects can be increased when Ormeloxifene is combined with Cangrelor.
