Smuth Cream should be used in the dose and duration as directed by your doctor. Clean and dry the affected area before applying this medicine. Make sure to wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying this medicine. Do not use your finger to apply this medicine. Do not stop using it suddenly without talking to your doctor, as it may lead to worsening of your condition.
Using of this medicine may cause application site reactions (burning, irritation, itching, and redness). These are temporary and usually resolves on with time. You should consult your doctor if any of these do not resolve with time and persists for a longer duration.
Avoid getting it into your eyes, nose or mouth. If accidental exposure occurs, wash your eyes with water and seek immediate medical attention. You should stop using it and inform your doctor if you notice worsening of the infection or if you develop increased redness and irritation.
Smuth cream works by the combined action of all its components.
Calcium dobesilate acts by protecting the blood vessels of the anal and lowest part of the rectum area. It promotes normal blood flow by reducing the blood viscosity and improves blood supply through the blood vessels of the anal area. It also helps in reducing swelling.
Hydrocortisone works by blocking or reducing the action of some natural substances in the skin that cause swelling, redness and allergies.
Zinc has astringent and antiseptic properties.
Lidocaine (also called Lignocaine) is a local anaesthetic and works by blocking pain.
Lidocaine is absorbed extensively following mucosal, intramuscular, rectal, transdermal, and inhalation pathways. 1 Lidocaine is metabolized efficiently, whether by presystemic hepatic elimination or normal clearance due to systemic hepatic blood flow.The main action of the drug is related to a reduction of microvascular permeability as measured by different parameters and methods (vitreous fluorophotometry, retinal haemorrhages, skin capillary resistance, blood albumin leakage, blood viscosity) leading to improved visual acuity.Oral hydrocortisone at a dose of 0.2-0.3mg/kg/day reached a mean Cmax of 32.69nmol/L with a mean AUC of 90.63h*nmol/L 1 A 0.4-0.6mg/kg/day dose reached a mean Cmax of 70.81nmol/L with a mean AUC of 199.11h*nmol/L. However, the pharmacokinetics of hydrocortisone can vary by 10 times from patient to patient.

Lidocaine+Calcium Dobesilate+Hydrocortisone+Zinc is used in the treatment of piles.Lidocaine / Lignocaine is a local anesthetic which works by blocking pain signals from the nerves to brain, thereby decreasing the sensation of pain. Calcium Dobesilate is a vasoprotective medicine which works on the walls of the small blood vessels and reduces their leakage and fragility. It also improves blood flow by decreasing viscosity/thickness of blood, thereby relieving inflammation (redness and swelling) in piles/haemorrhoids and promoting healing. Hydrocortisone is a steroid which reduces redness, itching, and swelling due to piles/haemorrhoids. Zinc has astringent and antiseptic action.
Some medicines can affect the way Smuth cream works or this medicine itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
