Mechanism Of Action

Amisulpride, a substituted benzamide derivative, is a second-generation (atypical) antipsychotic. At low doses, it enhances dopaminergic neurotransmission by preferentially blocking presynaptic dopamine D2/D3 autoreceptors.


Pharmacokinets

Amisulpride shows linear pharmacokinetics, a bioavailability of 48%, low protein binding (17%) and an elimination half-life of approximately 12 h. It is predominantly eliminated in the urine as the parent compound.

The risk or severity of adverse effects can be increased when Amisulpride is combined with Citalopram. The risk or severity of QTc prolongation can be increased when Clarithromycin is combined with Amisulpride.
