Somastin Injection works by blocking the effects of certain natural hormones in the body such as serotonin and growth hormone. It also decreases bleeding from food pipe by constricting (narrowing) the blood vessels.
The gastric emptying rate was reduced by somatostatin, but the inhibition was slowly established and of marginal consequences for the absorption. 2-Hour infusions of more than 1.5 μg · min-1 delayed the complete emptying. Somatostatin reduced dose-dependently the glucose absorption rate in the segment.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them
