Sunephrine Eye Drop is usually taken when needed. Use the number of drops as advised by your doctor. Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering any other medication in the same eye to avoid dilution. Do not use a bottle if the seal is broken before you open it. Always wash your hands and do not touch the end of the dropper.
The most common side effects of using this medicine are eye pain and photophobia. These are usually temporary and go away with time. You should let your doctor know if the side effects do not improve or if they get worse.
Do not use it while wearing soft contact lenses and talk to your doctor if you develop an eye infection while using it. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Sunephrine Eye Drop is a decongestant. It works by narrowing blood vessels of the eye to relieve inflammation (redness and swelling).
Following oral administration, peak plasma concentrations are achieved in 1 - 2 hours. The mean plasma half-life is in the range 2 - 3 hours. The volume of distribution is large (200 to 500 litres) [1, 8]. Penetration of the brain and excretion in breast milk appear to be minimal.

Phenylephrine is used to relieve nasal discomfort caused by colds, allergies, and hay fever. It is also used to relieve sinus congestion and pressure. Phenylephrine will relieve symptoms but will not treat the cause of the symptoms or speed recovery.
Drug-Drug Interaction: Inform your doctor if you are taking medicines used to treat heart disease (digoxin), antidepressants (amitriptyline), drugs for helping blood circulation and controlling angina (glyceryl trinitrate), beta-blockers (atenolol), some antibiotics, other nasal decongestants and some epilepsy treatments.

Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off the extra liquid.

If you miss a dose of Sunephrine Eye Drop, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop.
