You can take Telista-H 80 Tablet with or without food. The dose will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. Try to take it at the same time each day. It’s important to keep taking this medicine until your doctor tells you not to. It contains a diuretic (water pill) and will make you urinate more, so it is best to avoid taking this medicine within four hours of going to bed. Use this medicine regularly even if you feel better to get the most from it. High blood pressure does not usually have symptoms and if you stop taking it your risk of heart attack or stroke may increase.
The most common side effect is dizziness. Other side effects include feeling tired, nausea, diarrhea, flu-like symptoms, shortness of breath, and changes to your heartbeat. Frequent urination is not a side effect of this medicine. It is the purpose of this medicine as frequent urination helps control your blood pressure. You may experience other possible side effects, but most are rare. Make sure you read the leaflet that comes with your medicines and tell your doctor if you are bothered by side effects or they do not go away. It may be possible to adjust your dose or try a different medicine.
Do not use potassium supplements or salt substitutes unless your doctor has told you to. This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. You should ask your doctor before taking it if you have kidney or liver disease, heart trouble or diabetes. Drinking alcohol can further lower your blood pressure and may cause side effects.
Telista H Tablet works by the combined action of telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide.
Telmisartan acts by relaxing the blood vessels and helps in lowering the blood pressure.
Hydrochlorothiazide helps in increasing the urine output, hence helping in lowering the blood pressure.
The pharmacokinetics of orally administered telmisartan are nonlinear over the dose range 20-160 mg, with greater than proportional increases of plasma concentrations (Cmax and AUC) with increasing doses. Telmisartan shows bi-exponential decay kinetics with a terminal elimination half life of approximately 24 hours.Absorption of hydrochlorothiazide is reduced in patients with congestive heart failure. Peak plasma concentrations are observed within 1 to 5 hours of dosing, and range from 70 to 490 ng/mL following oral doses of 12.5 to 100 mg.

Telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide combination is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). High blood pressure adds to the workload of the heart and arteries. If it continues for a long time, the heart and arteries may not function properly.
This medicine may have an interaction with medicines used to treat mood disorders (lithium), medicines used to treat heart disorders (digoxin), antidiabetic medicines (metformin, insulin), medicines used to treat erectile dysfunction (sildenafil), medicines used to lower cholesterol levels (such as simvastatin), immunosuppressants (cyclosporine), and other anti-hypertensive medicines (aliskiren, enalapril, lisinopril, ramipril),

If you miss a dose of Telista-H 80 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

You should avoid potassium supplements or salt substitutes, unless advised by your doctor. Also, avoid alcohol consumption as doing so can further lower your blood pressure and may cause some side effects. In addition to that, avoid getting dehydrated, drink enough fluids during exercise and in hot weather. The medicine may make you dizzy so avoid driving, using machinery or doing anything that needs concentration unless you know how this medicine affects you. If you feel dizzy, lie down so you do not faint. Then sit for a few moments before standing to prevent feeling dizzy again.
Q. What happens if I take too much of Telista-H 80 Tablet?
If you accidentally take too much of Telista-H 80 Tablet, you may experience symptoms such as low blood pressure, dizziness, lightheadedness, weakness, vomiting and rapid heartbeat. However, in some cases slow heartbeat, reduced kidney function including kidney failure (e.g., reduced urine output) have also been reported. If you experience any such symptoms, contact your doctor immediately and seek medical help.
Q. Can I come off Telista-H 80 Tablet when my blood pressure is under control or normal?
Remember, Telista-H 80 Tablet does not cure your hypertension (high blood pressure) but helps normalize it. You should continue taking this medicine even if your blood pressure is controlled. If you stop taking Telista-H 80 Tablet, your blood pressure could rise back up again. Generally, blood pressure-lowering medicines are to be taken for the rest of your life. It is important to know that by keeping your blood pressure controlled you are reducing your risk of having a heart attack or a stroke.
Q. What happens if I forget to take Telista-H 80 Tablet?
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time of your next dose, skip the missed one and take the next scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for the one you missed. If you often forget doses, it may help to set an alarm to remind you. If not sure, consult your doctor for other ways to help you remember.
Q. What will happen if I stop taking Telista-H 80 Tablet?
You should not stop taking Telista-H 80 Tablet without talking to your doctor first. If you do stop taking it, your blood pressure may rise and you may put yourself at greater risk of having a heart attack or a stroke. If you experience side effects, such as dizziness, nausea, diarrhea etc., talk to your doctor.

High blood pressure does not usually have any symptoms, so you may not feel ill if there is any change in the blood pressure. Therefore, this medicine may not make you feel “better”. This does not mean that you can stop the medicine as they are working in the background to reduce your risk of serious illness.
Q. Can Telista-H 80 Tablet affect my fertility or sex life?
Telista-H 80 Tablet may very rarely lead to erectile dysfunction (inability to gain or maintain an erection). Consult your doctor if you are worried or notice some changes. However, untreated hypertension (high blood pressure) itself can lead to erectile dysfunction, therefore it is important that you take your medicine regularly and keep a track of your blood pressure.
