Common side effects of this medicine include headaches, hematoma, nausea, ecchymosis, postoperative bleeding, and blood in stool or urine. Let your doctor know immediately if you see pinpoint rash or blood in your vomits, urine, or stool.


This medicine is used with caution for some people. Before taking it, you must inform the doctor if you are suffering from any bleeding disorder, kidney, or liver disease. Also, let your doctor know if you are breastfeeding and about all the other medications that you are taking regularly.

Mechanism Of Action

Terofib 5mg Infusion is an antiplatelet medication. It works by preventing the platelets from sticking together, thereby decreasing the formation of harmful blood clots. This lowers the chance of heart attack or stroke.

Pharmacokinets

Tirofiban has a half-life of approximately 2 hours. It is cleared from the plasma largely by renal excretion, with about 65% of an administered dose appearing in urine and about 25% in feces, both largely as unchanged tirofiban. Metabolism appears to be limited.

Contra Indications

Severe hypersensitivity reaction to the drug (i.e., anaphylactic reactions) or excipients.

History of thrombocytopenia following prior exposure to therapy.

Active internal bleeding or history of bleeding diathesis, major surgical procedure or severe physical trauma within the previous month.


Pregnancy Related Information

Terofib 5mg Infusion is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Breast Feeding Related Information

Terofib 5mg Infusion should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.

Indications

Tirofiban is a platelet aggregation inhibitor used to prevent thrombotic events in non-ST elevated acute coronary syndrome. Tirofiban prevents the blood from clotting during episodes of chest pain or a heart attack, or while the patient is undergoing a procedure to treat a blocked coronary artery.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Inform your doctor if you are taking another blood thinner (warfarin) or are taking or have recently taken other medicines, including those obtained without a prescription.

Drug-Disease Interaction: Avoid receiving TIROFIBAN if are bleeding internally, have severe uncontrolled high blood pressure, thrombocytopenia (low blood platelet count), have severe liver disease or have a history of stroke, bleeding in the brain, abnormal blood vessels in the brain or brain tumour. If you have anaemia (lack of blood), liver disorder, heart failure, kidney problems, vasculitis (inflammation of the blood vessels), uncontrolled high blood pressure, pericarditis (inflammation of the lining around your heart), bleeding disorder, cardiogenic shock (very low blood pressure due to a failing heart) or ulcer in the stomach or intestine, inform your doctor before receiving TIROFIBAN.
