Terramycin MD Injection may also be used to treat many sexually transmitted diseases. It helps to improve your symptoms and cure the underlying infection. It is given as a drip (intravenous infusion) into a vein under the supervision of a doctor or a nurse. You should get the injection regularly at evenly spaced intervals for maximum benefits. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening.

The most common side effects of this medicine include vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, and skin reaction on exposure to sunlight (photosensitivity). Avoid excessive sun exposure and use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Some people may develop temporary redness or pain at the site of injection. These side effects are usually mild but let your doctor know if they bother you or last more than a few days.

Before using it, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any antibiotics or have any liver or kidney problems. You should also let your doctor know all other medicines you are taking as they may affect, or be affected by this medicine. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctor before using it.

Mechanism Of Action

Terramycin MD Injection is an antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth by preventing synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions.

Pharmacokinets

Oxytetracycline inhibits cell growth by inhibiting translation. It binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit and prevents the amino-acyl tRNA from binding to the A site of the ribosome. The binding is reversible in nature.

Side Effects

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Product And Alcohol Interaction

Consuming alcohol with Terramycin MD Injection does not cause any harmful side effects.


Breast Feeding Related Information

Terramycin MD Injection is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.


Indications

Oxytetracycline is indicated for treatment of infections caused by a variety of Gram positive and Gram negative microorganisms including Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Pasteurella pestis, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae (respiratory infections), and Diplococcus pneumoniae.

Interactions

Acenocoumarol. Oxytetracycline increases the anticoagulant effect of Acenocoumarol.

Acitretin. Acitretin increases the risk of benign intracranial hypertension when given with Oxytetracycline.

Alcohol.

Alectinib.

Alitretinoin.

Antacids.

Asparaginase.

Atorvastatin.
