The most common side effects of Thioz are Drowsiness, Skin Rash, Difficulty breathing. Normally, these side effects of Thioz are not long lasting and go away when the treatment is finished. However, if these continue for a longer time, consult your doctor right away.

Mechanism Of Action

This is the usual dosage recommended in most common treatment cases. Please remember that every patient and their case is different, so the dosage can be different based on the disease, route of administration, patient's age and medical history.

Pharmacokinets

In anaesthesiology the pharmacokinetics of thiopental are described as linear; when doses and duration of treatment increase, nonlinear pharmacokinetics occur because of the saturation and/or the induction of the metabolism.

Contra Indications

 Thiopental should be used with caution in cases of liver disease, Addison's disease, myxedema, severe heart disease, severe hypotension, a severe breathing disorder, or a family history of porphyria. Co-administration of pentoxifylline and thiopental causes death by acute pulmonary edema in rats.

Pregnancy Related Information

Thioz has many dangerous side effects in pregnant women. If you are pregnant, do not consume Thioz without medical advice.


Breast Feeding Related Information

Thioz does not show any harmful effects in lactating women.


Indications

(Thiopental Sodium for Injection, USP) is indicated (1) as the sole anesthetic agent for brief (15 minute) procedures, (2) for induction of anesthesia prior to administration of other anesthetic agents, (3) to supplement regional anesthesia, (4) to provide hypnosis during balanced anesthesia with other agents .

Interactions

The risk or severity of CNS depression can be increased when Thiopental is combined with Acetazolamide. The risk or severity of adverse effects can be increased when Acetophenazine is combined with Thiopental. The metabolism of Thiopental can be increased when combined with Acetylsalicylic acid.
