Thyrocab 20mg Tablet is an anti-thyroid medication. It works by reducing the amount of thyroid hormones produced by the thyroid gland.
There is rapid and complete absorption of thiamazole and carbimazole after oral administration with oral bioavailability of approximately 80% in most hyperthyroid cats.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Drug-Drug Interaction: CARBIMAZOLE may interact with blood thinners (warfarin), anti-asthma drug (theophylline), steroids (prednisolone), antibiotics (erythromycin), heart-related drugs (digoxin), and medicines used to treat high blood pressure (metoprolol).

Drug-Disease Interaction: If you have bone marrow depression, intrathoracic goiter (swelling in the neck), a serious blood disorder, severe liver disease or had acute pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) after taking CARBIMAZOLE or thiamazole in the past, inform your doctor before taking CARBIMAZOLE.

Stop taking Thyrocab 20mg Tablet and Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms of liver damage such as abdominal pain, loss of appetite, darkened urine, or yellowing of the eyes or skin.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Thyrocab 20mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

No, you should not stop taking Thyrocab 20mg Tablet even if you start feeling better. You may have to take it for several months depending on your investigations. The duration of the treatment will continue till the thyroid hormone levels return to normal. This duration may vary from six months to 18 months. Your doctor will decide when the treatment should be stopped.

You may start feeling better within 1-3 weeks of starting Thyrocab 20mg Tablet. However, it usually takes 4-8 weeks to see the full benefits of the treatment.

Thyrocab 20mg Tablet may cause hair loss but not in everyone. It has been seen that on discontinuing Thyrocab 20mg Tablet or replacing Thyrocab 20mg Tablet with another medicine, there is improvement, and hair loss reverses.
