Tinipidi Infusion helps prevent an infection after surgery. It is also used in the treatment of dental infections, leg ulcers, and pressure sores. This injection is administered under the supervision of a healthcare professional and should not be self-administered. Your symptoms may get better after a short time but you should finish the course of treatment even if you feel well, otherwise, some bacteria may survive, and the infection may come back. Do not drink any alcohol while taking this medicine and for some days after stopping it. Otherwise, you may get unpleasant side effects like nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain.
The most common side effects of this medicine are headache, dryness in mouth, and nausea. These are usually mild but let your doctor know if they bother you or last more than a few days. You can try using sugarless candies or lozenges to overcome any dryness or metallic taste in the mouth.
Before using this medicine, inform your doctor if you are allergic to any medicine or have any kidney or liver problems or any disease of the nervous system. This medicine should not be taken if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless it is absolutely necessary and prescribed by your doctor.
Tinipidi Infusion is an antibiotic. It kills the bacteria and other microorganisms that cause infections by damaging their DNA.
The plasma half-life of tinidazole is approximately 12-14 hours. Tinidazole is excreted by the liver and the kidneys. Tinidazole is excreted in the urine mainly as unchanged drug (approximately 20-25% of the administered dose). Approximately 12% of the drug is excreted in the feces.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

The use of tinidazole is contraindicated: In patients with a previous history of hypersensitivity to tinidazole or other nitroimidazole derivatives. Reported reactions have ranged in severity from urticaria to Stevens-Johnson syndrome [see ADVERSE REACTIONS].
Tinipidi Infusion may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Consuming alcohol while taking Tinipidi Infusion may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).
Tinipidi Infusion should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.
If a single dose of Tinipidi Infusion is used, it is recommended to hold breastfeeding for 12-24 hours to allow the removal of the drug.
Tinidazole is used to treat infections caused by protozoa (eg, trichomoniasis, giardiasis, and amebiasis). It is also used to treat adult women with vaginal infections (bacterial vaginosis).
Drug-Drug Interactions: TINIDAZOLE may interact with HIV medications (e.g. amprenavir), antifungal medication (e.g. clotrimazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, voriconazole), heart or blood pressure medication (e.g. diltiazem, felodipine, nifedipine, verapamil), seizure medication (e.g. carbamazepine, felbamate, oxcarbazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, primidone) and live vaccines (e.g. cholera, typhoid, BCG).
Food-Drug Interactions: TINIDAZOLE is not to be taken with alcohol, causing flushing, abdominal cramps, vomiting, and rapid heartbeat.
Drug-Disease Interactions: TINIDAZOLE may interact with disease conditions, including Bone Marrow Depression/Low Blood Counts, neurologic toxicity, and liver diseases.

If you miss a dose of Tinipidi Infusion, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

It may also be used to prevent infections following surgery.
