Torsed 20mg Tablet helps your body get rid of extra water and salt through urine. It may be used alone or in combination with other medicines as per the dose advised by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food and should be taken at the same time each day. It is best to avoid taking this medicine within 4 hours of your bedtime to prevent having to get up at night to urinate.It is important to continue taking this medication even if you feel well. If you stop taking it without consulting your doctor, your condition may worsen. Lifestyle changes like reducing stress, restricting salt intake, and stopping smoking may help this medication work better.
Torsed 20mg Tablet works by increasing the amount of urine produced. This helps your body get rid of extra water thereby relieving symptoms such as shortness of breath and swelling in your arms, legs, or abdomen.
The pharmacokinetics of torasemide are significantly influenced by liver disease. Total plasma clearance of torasemide was reduced to about half of that found in the control group, yielding an increase in elimination half-life.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Torsemide acts on electrolyte channels in the renal tubules. Significant adverse events include electrolyte abnormalities, photosensitive reactions, and hypotension. Contraindications to use are sulfa allergy, anuria, and hepatic coma.
Torsed 20mg Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Torsed 20mg Tablet. Please consult your doctor.
Torsed 20mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Edema secondary to the following.
Hypertension (not a first-line agent)[5]: Initial oral dose is 5 mg once daily, and the dose may increase to 10 mg daily after 4 to 6 weeks.
Salicylates. Taking torsemide with high doses of drugs called salicylates can cause the levels of the salicylate in your blood to become dangerously high.
Cholestyramine. Cholestyramine may stop your body from absorbing the right amount of torsemide.
Probenecid.
Lithium.
Do not chew, crush or break it. Torsed 20mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Torsed 20mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Consult a doctor before taking any medicines.
Take it in the morning with breakfast to avoid getting up at night to urinate.
Monitor your blood pressure after starting Torsed 20mg Tablet, and notify your doctor if it does not lower down.
Consult your doctor if you experience dizziness, tiredness, or muscle weakness that does not go away.
Take potassium supplements or potassium-rich diet (banana, spinach, coconut water, etc.) as Torsed 20mg Tablet can decrease your potassium levels and lead to dehydration.
You may be asked to get regular blood tests done to monitor your kidney function.

Yes, Torsed 20mg Tablet may raise blood sugar levels causing hyperglycemia. Hence, it is important to keep a track of your blood glucose levels during treatment with Torsed 20mg Tablet.
Q. What are the side effects of Torsed 20mg Tablet?
The common side effects of Torsed 20mg Tablet include headache, dizziness, dehydration, constipation, decreased blood pressure and stomach upset. Some of the serious side effects of Torsed 20mg Tablet include dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, rapid or excessive weight loss, vomiting blood, chest pain, difficulty breathing or swallowing, blisters or peeling skin, hives, rash, and itching. Consult your doctor immediately if you notice any such symptoms.
Q. Does Torsed 20mg Tablet increase creatinine?
Yes, Torsed 20mg Tablet may cause a mild increase in creatinine values depending on the dose you are taking. These increased creatinine levels may increase slightly more when this medicine is used for long term. However, with discontinuation of the treatment, these levels return to their base value.
Q. Does Torsed 20mg Tablet cause loss of potassium?
Torsed 20mg Tablet may not cause direct potassium loss. But, in some cases, its use may cause excess loss of water which may lead to dehydration. This, as a result, may cause loss of potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium.
Q. My blood pressure is controlled now. Can I stop taking Torsed 20mg Tablet?
Do not stop taking Torsed 20mg Tablet without talking to your doctor. Stopping the medicine may not overshoot your blood pressure levels but may make your condition as it was before treatment. Therefore, discuss this with your doctor who will advise you to change the medicine or the dosage as per your requirement.

Take Torsed 20mg Tablet exactly as advised by your doctor. Generally, it is recommended to take Torsed 20mg Tablet once daily preferably at the same time each day. Torsed 20mg Tablet is known to cause excess urination, and hence it is advised to take it in the morning.

Both Torsed 20mg Tablet and furosemide are almost similar in terms of safety and effectiveness. The only difference is that Torsed 20mg Tablet has a longer duration of action in comparison to furosemide but the effect of both starts within an hour of intake.
