Trofentyl 50mcg Injection is administered by a healthcare professional. You should not self-administer this medicine at home. The dose will depend on what you are taking it for and how well it helps your symptoms.
The most common side effects of this medicine include muscle rigidity, nausea, and vomiting. You may also experience other common side effects such as dizziness, sleepiness, increased or decreased blood pressure, and irregular heartbeat. If any of these side effects persist or get worse, you should let your doctor know. Your doctor may be able to suggest ways of preventing or reducing the symptoms.
Before using it, you should let your doctor know if you have respiratory disorders, heart diseases, high blood pressure, and liver or kidney disease. Let your doctor also know about all the other medicines you are taking because they may affect, or be affected by, this medicine. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctors before using the medicine.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid agonist, which acts primarily at the μ-opioid receptor. It is 100 times more potent than morphine resulting in an estimated conversion ratio of 1 to 100 to provide an equal degree of analgesia
The pharmacokinetics of fentanyl can be described as a three-compartment model, with a distribution time of 1.7 minutes, redistribution of 13 minutes and a terminal elimination half-life of 219 minutes. The volume of distribution for fentanyl is 4 L/kg

After operative interventions in the biliary tract, these may slow hepatic elimination of the drug.
With respiratory depression or obstructive airway diseases (i.e., asthma, COPD, obstructive sleep apnea, obesity hyperventilation, also know as, Pickwickian syndrome)
With liver failure.
Trofentyl 50mcg Injection may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Trofentyl 50mcg Injection may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.
Trofentyl 50mcg Injection is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Consult a doctor immediately if the baby shows signs of increased sleepiness (more than usual), difficulty breastfeeding, breathing problems, or limpness.

Some products that may interact with this drug include: certain pain medications (mixed opioid agonist-antagonists such as butorphanol, nalbuphine, pentazocine), naltrexone, samidorphan. Other medications can affect the removal of fentanyl from your body, which may affect how fentanyl works

It is given by an injection or drip into a vein.
It may cause dizziness, sleepiness, and headaches. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
Do not drink alcohol or take other medicines that can cause drowsiness while taking Trofentyl 50mcg Injection.
Your doctor may monitor your breathing, blood pressure and heart rate while you receive this medication.
Inform your doctor if you have ever been diagnosed with kidney or liver problems.
