The pharmacokinetics of mifepristone are characterised by rapid absorption, a long half-life of 25 to 30 hours and micromolar serum concentrations following ingestion of doses currently in clinical use.

Mifepristone is contraindicated in patients with: an ectopic pregnancy, hypersensitivity to prostaglandins, undiagnosed renal masses, concurrent IUD use, hemorrhagic disorders, and severe anemia.
The use of this medicine is acceptable for medical termination of intrauterine pregnancy which is 63-70 days old. However, use of this medicine for control of elevated blood sugar levels along with elevated cortisol level is not recommended for pregnant women. It should be noted that a failed attempt to terminate pregnancy might result in severe complications.
The use of this medicine should be avoided by women who are breastfeeding. However, if it becomes necessary to use this medicine then breastfeeding should be discontinued. Consult your doctor regarding the potential benefits and risks involved before taking this medicine.
Mifepristone is a synthetic steroid. It is a medication most commonly used for medically induced abortions. Drug-Drug Interactions: MIFEPRISTONE interacts with corticosteroids (dexamethasone), antifungal (ketoconazole, itraconazole), antibiotics (erythromycin, rifampicin), anti-epileptic (phenytoin, phenobarbital, carbamazepine), immunosuppressants (cyclosporine, tacrolimus, sirolimus), medicines to treat migraine (ergotamine). So, MIFEPRISTONE should not be taken along with these drugs.
Drug-Food Interactions: Please tell your doctor about all the Vitamins, herbs, and supplements you are taking as the MIFEPRISTONE may interact with them to produce unpleasant side effects. Also, MIFEPRISTONE is known to interact with St John’s Wort (a natural remedy used to treat mild depression) and grapefruit juice.
Drug-Disease Interactions: MIFEPRISTONE should be taken with caution in people with a bleeding problem, confirmed or suspected ectopic pregnancy, heart problem, liver or kidney disease, or vaginal bleeding.

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember if the intended use is to control elevated blood sugar levels. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose then the missed dose should be skipped. For medical termination of pregnancy, it is a single dose therapy and hence missing a dose is not possible.
