Urimax DX Tablet MR may be taken with or without food but it should be taken at the same time each day. Your doctor will prescribe the dose most suitable for you. To gain the most benefit and to treat your symptoms effectively, you should not miss doses, even if you feel well. It may take up to 4 weeks to notice an improvement in the symptoms but keep taking them regularly. Tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 4 weeks or if they get worse.The most common side effects of this medicine include impotence, decreased libido, breast pain, and ejaculation disorder. If these side effects worry you or do not go away, call your doctor for advice. You may also feel dizzy or drowsy. These risks are higher when you first start taking this drug. Remember, your doctor has given you this medicine because the benefits are greater than the risks of the side effects.
Urimax DX Tablet MR is a combination of two medicines: Tamsulosin and Dutasteride, which relieves the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Tamsulosin is an alpha-blocker. It works by relaxing the muscle around the bladder exit and prostate gland so as to allow easy passage of urine.
Tamsulosin exhibits high plasma-protein binding, largely to alpha(1)-acid glycoprotein. It is metabolized, mainly by cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A4 and CYP2D6 to compounds with low abundance, and 8.7-15% of an oral dose is excreted renally as the parent compound. Following administration of a single 0.5-mg dose of a soft gelatin capsule, time to peak serum concentrations (Tmax) of dutasteride occurs within 2 to 3 hours. Absolute bioavailability in 5 healthy subjects is approximately 60% (range, 40% to 94%).

Dutasteride and tamsulosin combination is used to treat men who have symptoms of an enlarged prostate gland, which is also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Benign enlargement of the prostate is a problem that can occur in men as they get older
Urimax DX tablets should be used with caution in combination with cimetidine which is used for acidity problems.
Caution should be exercised with concomitant use of warfarin and Urimax DX tablets.
Certain antiviral medicines such as ritonavir, antifungals such as ketoconazole and antibiotics such as erythromycin may interact with this medicine. Hence, it should be used cautiously.
Blood pressure medicines or vasodilators (used to relax blood vessels), as well as medicines used to treat erection problems when used in combination with Urimax DX, can lead to low blood pressure or hypotension.
Tell your doctor about any other medicines, supplements or herbals you are taking or might take, to avoid any possible interaction.

If you miss a dose of Urimax DX Tablet MR, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

You have been prescribed Urimax DX Tablet MR to relieve the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
If you are scheduled to undergo an eye surgery due to cataract or glaucoma, inform your eye doctor about the usage of Urimax DX Tablet MR.
It may cause difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection (impotence), decreased sex drive, and ejaculation disorders such as decreased amount of semen produced or decreased sperm count.
Do not donate blood for 6 months after taking the last dose of Urimax DX Tablet MR.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Urimax DX Tablet MR may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Yes, the use of Urimax DX Tablet MR can cause dizziness. Urimax DX Tablet MR contains a combination of Tamsulosin and Dutasteride. Tamsulosin can cause a sudden fall in blood pressure while changing posture from lying to sitting or standing (orthostatic hypotension). This sudden fall in blood pressure can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, sensation of spinning and vertigo. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, do not drive or use any machines. It is better to rest for some time and resume once you feel better.

Along with that, it is important to keep in mind that pregnant women should not even handle Urimax DX Tablet MR as the medicine may get absorbed through the skin and cause harm to the fetus.
