Volitra Plus Gel is a combination of five drugs: Diclofenac, Capsaicin, Methyl salicylate, Linseed, and Menthol. Diclofenac and Methyl salicylate are pain killers which work by blocking the effect of a chemical messenger known as cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes that make another chemical prostaglandin (PG). By blocking COX enzyme's effect, lesser PGs are produced, which reduces mild to moderate pain and inflammation at the injured or damaged site. Capsaicin is a natural extract of chilli pepper which work by blocking the pain messengers to the nerves. Linseed oil possesses anti-inflammatory agent which inhibits inflammatory mediators like leukotrienes (LK), thereby reducing inflammation. On the other hand, Menthol is a soothing and cooling agent which provides cooling sensation by dilating the blood vessels, followed by an analgesic effect. It also enhances the penetration of drugs. Together, Volitra Plus Gel helps provide relief from mild to moderate pain in various types of musculoskeletal and joints conditions.
