Zolin 0.25 MG Tablet is used to treat anxiety and panic disorders like unexpected extreme fear and tension due to stress. It is recommended to start with a small dosage and increase it gradually. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly as it may cause withdrawal symptoms like seizures, aggressive behavior, blurred vision, etc.
The exact mechanism of action of alprazolam is unknown. Benzodiazepines bind to gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in the brain and enhance GABA-mediated synaptic inhibition; such actions may be responsible for the efficacy of alprazolam in anxiety disorder and panic disorder.
Alprazolam has a mean plasma elimination half-life of 11.2 hours in healthy patients (range 6.3-26.9 hours). The mean half-life is 16.3 hours (range 9.0-26.9 hours) in the elderly, 21.8 hours (range 9.9-40.4 hours) in obese patients, and 19.7 hours (range 5.8-65.3 hours) in patients with alcoholic liver disease.
