Acyclovir Eye Ointment is an antiviral medication which treats eye infections caused by Herpes simplex virus. It works by preventing the multiplication of the virus on the surface of your eyeball (cornea). This stops the production of new viruses and clears up your eye infection.
Acyclovir is slowly and poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and bioavailability decreases with increasing dose. Acyclovir is widely distributed into tissues and body fluids. Plasma protein binding is relatively low at 9 to 24%.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them
