Zoxil 125mg Tablet may be given with or without food. However, if your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with food. The dose and duration of the medicine will depend on the type and severity of the infection. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medicine, give the same dose again but do not double dose if it is almost time for the next dose.


Zoxil 125mg Tablet may cause some minor and temporary side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain. Usually, these subside once your child’s body adapts to the medicine. However, if these side effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor immediately.


Inform the doctor about your child’s complete medical history, including any previous episode of allergy, heart problems, blood disorders, birth defects, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problems, skin disorders, or liver and kidney malfunction. This information is critical for dose alterations and for planning your child’s overall treatment.

Pharmacokinets

Cefadroxil is almost completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. After doses of 500 mg and 1 g by mouth, peak plasma concentrations of about 16 and 30 micrograms/ml, respectively, are obtained after 1.5 to 2.0 hours.

Contra Indications

Cefadroxil is contraindicated in patients with cephalosporin hypersensitivity or cephamycin hypersensitivity. Cefadroxil should be used cautiously in patients with hypersensitivity to penicillin. The structural similarity between cefadroxil and penicillin means cross-reactivity can occur.

Indications

 (cefadroxil) is indicated for the treatment of patients with infection caused by susceptible strains of the designated organisms in the following diseases: Urinary tract infections caused by E. coli; P. mirabilis, and Klebsiella species.

Effects Of Missed Dosage

Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not give a double dose to catch up. Follow the prescribed dosing schedule strictly.
